Written Health Guarantee

Every effort has been taken on our part to see that all puppies leaving Sunset Labradors are in excellent physical condition. They have been inoculated and checked by our vet, wormed and well socialized before leaving.

We suggest you take your new puppy to the Veterinarian within 72 hours of purchase. If at that time he/she finds any problems, contact us immediately. If we do not hear from you within four days from the date of purchase we will assume that everything is satisfactory and the animal is in good health.

A puppy sold from Sunset Labradors is guaranteed free of hip dysplasia and PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy). In the unlikely event of unsoundness, the puppy will be replaced by a puppy of equal value and breeding from a litter produced by Sunset Labradors within 12 months of the time we are notified by you that there is a problem or we will refund the original purchase price of the animal, at our option, PROVIDED THAT THE FOLLOWING IS MET:

 1.   The hips are X-rayed by a competent agency or veterinarian and evaluated by O.F.A. between 18 and 26 months of age.

NOTE: O.F.A. quality X-rays must be taken and submitted to the Orthopedic Foundation For Animals in Columbia, Missouri for their review and request and O.F.A. number and rating.

  2.   The results of the X-ray are reported to Sunset Labradors immediately.

NOTE: Dogs that have been injured in the hip area, prior to their O.F.A., are not eligible for the hip guarantee. If O.F.A. advises that this dog shows evidence of Canine Hip Dysplasia we may require another x-ray at a Vet of our choosing, to have the X-rays sent to us, and/or to discuss this matter and the animal’s past medical history with your Veterinarians. You and we will share expense for additional X-rays equally.

3.   The eyes are examined between 6 and 24 months of age by a qualified Canine Ophthalmologist that is certified to issue a C.E.R.F. number and certificate.

4.   The results of the eye examination are reported to Sunset Labradors immediately. We also guarantee that your dog’s eyes will clear annually up to 36 months of age- three years- but do not require you to clear your dogs eyes annually.

NOTE: Dogs that are injured in the eye area prior to receiving their C.E.R.F. registration certificate are not eligible for the eye guarantee.

5.   Dogs must not be used for breeding until X-rayed and approved by O.F.A.  And examined by a qualified Canine Ophthalmologist and have C.E.R.F. registration certificate. If bred before approved- guarantee is Null and Void.

6.   The dog must be returned to Sunset Labradors before a replacement puppy or refund is given.

NOTE: The extent of our liability in this matter can never exceed the purchase price of the animal herein described. Shipping cost, medical care, training and other expenses incurred in the ownership of the puppy or dog, are the responsibility of the purchaser.

NOTE: We make every effort to see that all of the puppies, sold from Sunset Labradors are sound physically and mentally. However, as with all living creatures there are occasionally defects, or health problems, that cannot outwardly be determined by our Vet, the purchaser or us. Such defects are not always genetic in nature. We can only guarantee defects that are considered genetic in origin. Birth defects, congenital defects, injuries after the animal left Sunset Labradors, or resulting problems from such, are not covered by our guarantee.

NOTE: We cannot guarantee a perfect puppy. We will guarantee our puppies to be healthy, socialized and well bred.

We are dedicated to the working and companion retriever.
