Becky’s puppies

Friday, July 31st, 2009

Becky had her litter today, 7/31/09 she went into labor at 8:45AM. There are 9 puppies, 5 yellows & 4 blacks. All seem to be doing well at this time. This is Becky’s first litter and it took a little for motherhood to come around. The first puppy born was a black female and Becky was not sure what to make of her. After some coaxing she started taking care of the first pup and then the rest came natural to her. The following photo was taken a few hours after they were born.

News from Sunset Labradors

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Miracle turned 10 weeks old today and is doing great. We took her to Middletown to visit my mother.  She got to meet my mothers 2 parakeets and see the aquarium and the fish in it. Miracle didn’t have must interest in the parakeets but she was astonished by the aquarium. A lot of her time was spent running around the house from room to room. She also spent time outside running up and down the front steps, by the time we came home Miracle was exhausted and slept the entire afternoon.

July 31st Becky is due to have her first litter. This breeding was a long awaited event for us. Becky X Rock, with Rock’s temperament and Becky’s intense personality I think this could be an excellent litter. Hopefully all will work out well and a healthy litter will arrive.

Coming soon—(LRW) a website that we have had many inquires about. I have many hours put into this site and many more to go. I hope to have it up and running by August.

Miracle’s New Friend

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

Saturday “Miracle’s” big brother went to his new home. She spent the day looking around for him. So Saturday evening we gave her a new friend. We happened to have a fake stuffed black lab that was just about the size of her big brother. Miracle fell in love with it. So now she spends a lot of her time outside running around and playing with her toys. During her quite time in the house she pulls her new friend all around with her until she settles down for her sleep time in her little bed. The good thing about her new friend is that he doesn’t bite and doesn’t complain our eat much. I guess when she leaves us to go to her new home she will be taking her new friend with her.

Week 8 - hard to believe!

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

The pups are 8 weeks old today; it doesn’t seem possible that it has been 8 weeks since they were born. The time went by real fast, faster then any litter of pups that I can remember. But then my short term memory is terrible. We still have 1 black male remaining and of course “Miracle” will be with us for a few weeks to come. Both “Miracle” and the male are doing great. At this point the male that is still here I believe was the big brother that was watching over her. They are such close companions and he tolerates her chewing on him more then some of the other puppies did. They spend a lot of time outside and enjoy curling up together in their little bed when they are sleeping. Well anyway he is sleeping. You can’t move without “Miracle” noticing it. But she will go back to sleep with big brother.

Week 7

Today Jammer and Magnum’s puppies begin to go to their new homes. It doesn’t seem possible they are 49 days old today. It is such a great pleasure to see them born and grow to this point. The time goes quick but it is very rewarding to Arlene and I.

For the many inquiries about “Miracle”, she will be going to a home that has a chocolate male “Quincy” from one of our previous breedings. The family will be going on vacation and “Miracle” will be staying with us for a few weeks. Arlene and I don’t know what her name will be when she leaves us but to us she will always be a “Miracle”week7c
