Some photos

October 17th, 2009

We like to do at least a post once a week but due to an illness to a family member it has been impossible to keep up with our blog. Hopefully we will be able to stay on top of our blog from this point. All of our puppies have gone to their new homes and we have received some pictures that will be posted below. Our litter Magnum X Jammer there was a puppy that was born that Arlene & I never believed would survive a yellow female. Most everyone remember her as “Miracle” you could hold her in your hand at 4 weeks of age. The last picture below is “Miracle” now named “Latte”. What a joy to see how she has grown and developed into a Labrador retriever.

9 Weeks today!!!

October 2nd, 2009

There are 3 yellows remaining with us at this time. One is a yellow female “Molly”, one is of course “Chisum” and a yellow male that is still available. I never dreamed there would still be a yellow available. I can remember when Arlene and I started Sunset Labradors and when our Kelly was first bred to a male named “Buster”. We were told by the owners of “Buster” that black labs were no more, nobody wants’ blacks anymore. At the time I said that blacks will always be around, well we had 4 blacks in this litter and they were the first to go to their new homes. “Molly” will be leaving us next weekend and “Chisum” will be staying around, we have starting training him. All of them are walking with a leash and enjoy being outside. Our “Chisum” is being trained more intensive for hunting purposes. There will be a blog kept on weekly bases at 1 of our other sites http://www.labrador-retrievers-world.com there is also a monthly news letter that you can sign up for at that site. We started that website 6 weeks ago for the many people that were requesting information on Labrador retrievers and were we purchased our Lab clothing? Most people don’t know that we do our own products because we just don’t push the other business we have with our Lab friends. So for interested people here are our other sites listed below along with a picture of “Molly” and the available yellow male. The yellow male is on the left.

8 weeks today

September 25th, 2009

The puppies turned 8 weeks old today, Arlene put a collar and a leash on them and 1 by 1 she walked them up to the corner of our property line to see their reactions. It was like they have been doing it on regular bases. Every one of them walked on a leash with no problems and they just took all their new surroundings in like it was a daily routine. We have 1 black female and 2 yellow males available at this time. Actually there are 3 yellow males but we have decided to keep 1. His name will be “Chisum” after the movie Chisum starring John Wayne.

Week 7–doesn’t seem possible!!!!!!!!!

September 18th, 2009

Week 7 and boy are they an active bunch. They all enjoy being outside and romping around. There is not a shy one in the litter, they are all very active and out going. Today they will start to go to their new families it doesn’t seem possible that it has been 7 weeks. The picture below is rest time, it was much easier to take a picture when they are resting.

Week 6–Doggie Doctor

September 11th, 2009

Arlene and I and 9 puppies all went to the doggie doctor today. The 9 pups had their physical and their first set of shots. All of them loved all the attention they received at our veterinaries office. When we returned home they stayed outside for about an hour, the weather was so nasty and it was their first time outside. Hopefully the weather will change and they will be out longer in the days to come. They all enjoyed being outside and ran around like they have been outside on a regular bases.

Miracle Update

September 9th, 2009

Miracle has settled in to her new home very well, they have taught her to come, sit, fetch, lie down. Her new family says she is a quick learner and now is up to 18.5 pounds. She is getting along with “Quincy” their other chocolate lab. Her new family registered her with AKC as Sunsets Little Miracle and her call name is Latte. No matter what her call name is Arlene and I are just happy that our little Miracle has a wonderful home with such a great family.miacle 4

Week 5 and all is well!

September 4th, 2009

Becky’s puppies are doing very well at this time. They all are growing very fast and are extremely alert to their surroundings. At 30 days old we moved their whelping pen from upstairs to the downstairs so they would see and experience more activity. The first few days they just took everything in, watching our other dogs and our 2 cats now the puppies want to romp with our older dogs. We usually don’t move their whelping pen until they are 6 weeks old but they all seemed like they were getting bored with just listening to music and having Arlene and I to socialize with and they would bark when ever they heard our other dogs barking. This litter has progressed at a rapid pace, they look and act like they are about 7 weeks and they are only 5 weeks. We had to put 2 pans of food down so they all had room to eat and boy do they eat. Next Friday they all go to the doggy doctor and then they will start going outside. Also it is hard to take picture they all move so fast, the best time for pictures is when they are eating at least then they are usually not moving so fast.

Becky’s Puppies Week 4

August 28th, 2009

Week 4 and all are doing very well. The puppies are all growing and are very large for only being 4 weeks old. They are very alert and noisy, barking and romping all around. You would have to think they were 5 weeks old instead of 4 weeks old. There size and appetites have put a strain on Becky and she is becoming an unhappy mother at this point. She only likes to stay with them a short period of time. We decided to try and feed them yesterday and there was no trying about it. They all dug right in to the mashed up puppy chow like they have been eating for a week. It is in creditable the way this litter has progressed so fast.

Miracle’s Big Day!!!!

August 21st, 2009

Miracle had her big day today; she went to her new home. She was extremely excited to go. It has been a wonderful experience to see her grow from birth to such a wonderful little puppy. She was truly a “Miracle” to see her desire to survive and progress to this point. She will be missed by both of us but knowing she is going to a wonderful family is a great relief to us. She will also have a brother by one of our other litters living with her, boy is he in for a surprise.
